    • That’s a pretty broad question! Learn by doing, have fun, dig into the books and read, and invite some friends to give it a go. There’s my sage advice. 🙂 If you are wondering how to get started/what to buy check out my other resources. Good luck!

  1. Hello Nate,
I’m really new to D&D (In general, even though I’ve heard about it about 10 years ago or so), I own the Monsters Manual and the Player’s Handbook. Could you maybe make a video of creating a Warlock? I’ve always loved Warlocks, whether in World Of Warcraft or other games.
    Thanks in advance!

  2. HI NATE YOUR AWESOME MY ADDRESS IS 736 TANAGER LANE, GENEVA IL!
COULD YOU COME PLAY DND WITH ME

  3. Hey Nate,
I’ve always wanted to get into D&D, you know, learn how to play it, meet new friends, be classified as a nerd for the rest of my days, ect. As a new player that knows nothing, what would be my checklist of things to know before I start playing?

  4. Dear Nate
I have a question about the wizard and armour. I know that unless I’m proficient in it I can’t cast a spell while wearing the armour. My question is; does this apply to a shield?
    Thanks loving your videos!

    • I’m honestly not sure about that, but my initial thought is that it does not apply to a shield. Sorry for the late reply! Not sure how I missed this comment. 🙂

  5. Hey Nate
I’ve always been wanting to play a game like this, but none of my friends want to play. Then nerdist came out with their new d&d series and i said that’s it I’m playing. I have 0 clue on how to start though, and also i know that i would wanna be a Werewolf. Is there any hope in becoming a werewolf or am i just gonna have to choose a different class because an Arcane Knight sounds cool to.

  7. I am a starter to d&d and I made a character a halfling monk. My friends invited me into a game and is there anything else important. I stille need a mini for my character and were can I get it?

    • Sorry for the late reply. Minis can be bought at many gaming shops, or online. I prefer Reaper Miniatures, but I like to paint my own. You can look on miniature market too.

  8. The links all terminate in a malicious site warning from google. I suggest either hosting the documents yourself or confirming that the links are safe.

  9. Thanks for all the ideas but……… I do not know how to put it all together…..can you help please?

  10. I saw in your video your book had all the backgrounds races and what stat they gave but I cannot find where to find this on the free PDF. Any help?

  11. So i was planning to try my hand a Tabletop RPG’s since to my knowledge there relatively cheap and you can make them as easy or hard as you want and they have great replay value, so my question is do you reccomend starting with D&D(I’m just gonna but the 5th edition startes set then which also comes with 6 die) or do you reccomend another Tabletop RPG for a total beginner because i was thinking MYFAROG or some Star Wars related.

    • Sorry for the late response here, but the 5e Starter Set is honestly pretty good for beginners. I recommend it. The Pathfinder Beginner box is great too, but Pathfinder itself is a more rules-heavy game.

  12. Hey Nate. I am new to D&D and am planing on invite a friend. I bought Starter Set and we will see how it goes. But I have 2 questions. First, can you make a video explaining spells or if you already did tell me how is it called or link it. Plz. Second, I plan to be a GM but story we are useing is for 3 to 4. Can my friend play with multiple charachters. Sry for bad englisch, I am from Croatia and Nate thanks for getting me into this wonderful world of D&D. 🙂

  13. I’m super happy I found this blog. I’ve wanted to,play DnD with some friends, but I never knew how. This blog looks amazing though. Good job ;D

  16. Hey, Just a technical comment, I’m starting up a small group of my kid’s friends in a campaign, introducing them to D&D, and am looking for sites like yours which have beginner how to and other new player resources. So thanks for putting together. However, your site doesn’t default to HTTPS, and although it does support it if you type it in on the URL, it doesn’t stick when you link. This may seem like a small thing and you may be thinking, why bother using HTTPS (SSL or TLS encryption) when nothing on the page is “secure”, but using HTTP gives ads and non-affiliated systems lots of ability to take over browser sessions and even desktops through exploitation. Having HTTPS connections by default lessens the risk to others visiting your site (and you) tremendously. Although not a panacea, it’s a dramatic improvement in safety for everyone. You seem to host your own site, so your ISP may be able to help you get your site set up to use HTTPS and HSTS by default. If not, look at the Let’s Encrypt service, which allows you to get FREE encryption certificates that can make the change cost free. It’s a little work for you resulting in a big security improvement for all your visitors. It’s such a big deal that I can’t recommend or link to your site for my players because of the risk it entails. Further, Google Chrome will very soon be displaying big red X Not Secure warnings on sites like yours which don’t use HTTPS by default. So please make this change for your fans. Thanks.

  20. I love your tutorial videos, i created my first character (a human noble ranger) alongside your tutorial ranger video it was a great help.

  21. I didn’t have any expectations regarding that title, but then the more I was amazed.
The author did a great job, he reminded me about the author
that wrote this https://blushphoto.net/. I spent a couple of minutes reading and assessing the facts.
Everything is clear and understandable. I enjoy
posts that fill in your knowledge gaps. This one is of that sort.
Moreover, I like the way the author organized his thoughts in addition to the visual part.

  22.
